Grants

Available to unit, council and district PTAs in good standing, these unique annual grants are geared to address four initiatives of major interest to our children, schools and members.

Each year, the California State PTA Scholarship and Grant Committee carefully reads and vets each application. All applicants are notified of their status in February. PTAs selected for grant funding receive a letter of congratulations and recognition certificate from California State PTA along with a check and a grant report form. California State PTA’s Program Grants (on average $500 to $2,000).

For the California State PTA Grant Program, a successful application from your PTA will meet all of the following criteria:
  • Your PTA is in good standing
  • Grant funds must be expended by June 1.
  • A report detailing the project’s goals and objectives, an evaluation of the outcomes, and a budget of actual expenditures must be submitted to the California State PTA office no later than June 1.
  • Any funds not used for the purpose stated on the original grant application must accompany the Grant Report.
  • Your completed application is submitted tou0003 California State PTA by October 15.*

*When October 15 falls on a weekend, applications are due in the State PTA office by close of business the following Monday.

  • Discretionary grants: awarded using a competitive process.
  • Student loans or grants: to help students attend college.
  • Formula grants: uses formulas determined by Congress and has no application process.

Target

Each year, Target store grants help K-12 schools and nonprofit organizations bring arts and cultural experiences to students, provide support for educational field trips and fund early childhood reading programs.
