Advocacy
We believe our responsibility includes advocating for the safety and welfare of all children and the opportunity for a quality public education for each child. Any unit, council or district PTAs may recommend action on legislation to the California State PTA Board of Managers.
Honorary Service Awards (HSA)
The HSA recognizes an individual/group that has demonstrated outstanding service to children or youth in our community. Each year our units and council accept nominations for these awards. A banquet is held each Spring to celebrate and recognize the recipients and contributions to our community.
Parent Education
We provide a series of Parent Education Nights to benefit the Camarillo Community.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention program reaching millions of Americans during the last week of October each year. The council strives to provide resources to our units in putting on this annual event.
Reflections
The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art.
Women In History
This wonderful program originates from the American Association of University Women (AAUW). We assist units in coordinating with the AAUW. Program description from the AAUW: “We dramatize remarkable women—from Queen Elizabeth to Sally Ride—for local elementary and middle school students. Teachers love us. We coordinate the costumes; we write the scripts; we are the women!”
